Ida Nappelbaum - Portrait of the ballerina Nina Molodzinskaja 1928
Ida Nappelbaum is from an interesting family: Her father Moissej Nappelbaum was one of the top portrait-photographers in the Soviet Union, right from the revolution. His portrait of Lenin which sold over a million copies made his way for being the photographer of soviet celebs.
Being a writer herself, one of Ida’s sisters, Lilya Nappelbaum, was a poet and literature critic.

The cover for the 1966 album Cossack Patrol by the Red Army Ensemble, better known as the Alexandrov Ensemble. Tracks include Cossack Patrol, The Cliff, Evening On The Roadstead, The Sun Has Set Behind The Hill, You Are Ever Lovely and John Reed Walks In Petrograd. Sounds sweeping and romantic, yet faithful to the party line!
